American Idol Season 11: The Season that was!
It was on January 18, 2012 that the most popular American Idol season 11 was premiered on Fox. It is aired on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Jennifer Lopez, Randy Jackson and Steven Tyler have returned as judges. Host, Ryan Seacrest, too has returned. For this season no major changes were planned hence, a similar format follows for this season as well.
Auditions at the Hollywood Week:
The logo and a title screen are new. To the schedule, added lately is the New Jersey audition. On the official site of American Idol it was listed that the audition had taken place at another place.
Starting from December 12, 2011the Hollywood week auditions were held at the Pasadena Civic auditorium. 309 contestants performed solo of which 185 got through to the second round. Jane Carrey, daughter of Jim Carrey the comedian and actor also came through. The next solo round proceeded with 98 contestants where they had to perform with an instrument or band.
Round at Las Vegas at the Wynn Las Vegas Hotel:
Later on, after elimination 70 contestants made it to the round at Las Vegas. For this round group songs of Elvis Presley of the late 1950s had to be performed. A solo round called Sing-for your-life, was followed in which 42 contestants were selected. The 42 contestants at the Wynn Las Vegas Hotel sang the last solo song.
On February 22, announcements of 14 semi-finalists were made and on February 23, announcements of the rest of the ten were made. One male contestant was to be added to the top 13 semi-finalist boys by the judges at the end of the episode. David Leathers Jr, Jermaine Jones, Johnny Keyser and Richie Law were the 4 running for this selection. The 13thsemi-finalist, male was Jermaine Jones. This was announced on February 28 at the American Idol season 11.
